November 15, 2017 – The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote THIS WEEK on the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act (H.R. 1). The U.S. Senate Finance Committee is discussing the Senate tax bill this week. These bills differ in important ways – read a side-by-side comparison here - but both hurt nonprofits.

Three nonprofit organizations have been chosen as the winners of the 2017 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards—a program created and managed by the Nonprofit Coordinating Committee of New York (NPCC)—for demonstrating excellence in nonprofit management in NPCC’s Eight Key Areas of Nonprofit Excellence.
October 14, 2017 – NPCC signed on to the comments of the Lawyers Alliance for New York, along with the New York Legal Services Coalition, regarding the Joint Commission on Public Ethics (JCOPE)’s proposed comprehensive lobbying regulations (19 NYCRR Part 943). JCOPE’s proposed regulations, if adopted, would affect lobbying definitions and compliance provisions.

Six nonprofit groups from across the New York City area have been chosen as finalists for the 2017 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The Awards program engages nonprofit applicants in a 360-degree review of all of their management practices, provides expert feedback for improvement, and recognizes management excellence.
September 21, 2017 – Last year at this time, nonprofits were scrambling to comply with pending overtime regulations that would have doubled the minimum salary threshold for determining who is considered a white-collar worker and exempt from overtime payments.

We heard from members, capacity builders, and other umbrella organizations that they were in need of response to the trauma – both direct and vicarious – that their staff and constituents were experiencing.
On December 1st, three nonprofits from among 10 semifinalists will find out which prize - Gold, Silver or Bronze - they've won in the 2017 New York Community Trust Nonprofit Excellence Awards. The program's expert 30-member Selection Committee is responsible for making the decision and, before that, for choosing the semifinalists and finalists from this year's pool of 45 applicant organizations.
