Nonprofits have a constitutional and legal right to engage in lobbying, yet national data shows fewer than 3% of nonprofits exercise this right. Although nonprofit advocacy brings more voices into the policymaking process, New York’s lobbying regulations are costly and burdensome. The A Place at the Table campaign seeks to relieve the administrative burden on small nonprofits who lobby by raising the “threshold” required to register as a lobbyist from $5,000 to $10,000. Raising the threshold will not reduce transparency, because 99% of all lobbying expenditures would still be reported. Learn more about the A Place at a Table campaign on our website.

Please join us in urging the state to support GovernorHochulʼs Joint Commission on Public Ethics replacement legislation and appropriate funds for an Independent Ethics Commission!
