Membership Director Taina Sanon spoke with Brian Ross of Mutual of America, a Member Vendor Partner of Nonprofit New York.
How many are on your team?
Mutual of America's New York City team consists of 16 retirement specialists.
Servicing how many of the nonprofit population?
Our New York City office services a few hundred nonprofit organizations.
Tell me about the organization and a little bit about what you do.
Mutual of America specializes in providing Group Retirement Products (401k, 403b, 457b, etc) and related services to organizations and their employees. We have done so for over 75 years while specializing in the nonprofit community. We are a leading provider of workplace retirement products, offering personalized service at a competitive price to help plan participants and individuals build and preserve assets for a financially secure future. My role as part of our full bundled, one stop shop approach is plan design, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing relationship management.
Where do you see your organization in the next five years or ten years?
Mutual of America is undertaking major and innovative initiatives that we expect will further strengthen our retirement plan services to sponsors and participants. Our commitment to personal, face-to-face service uniquely positions Mutual of America to reach every employee to assist them with their retirement planning and to ensure their questions are answered. This commitment differentiates us from our competitors, resulting in our ability to meet with employees at any location and times convenient for them.
How has partnering with Nonprofit New York helped you succeed?
Partnering with Nonprofit New York has helped us recognize the uniqueness of all nonprofit organizations and better appreciate what truly matters to each. This, in turn, has provided us with a greater understanding of the needs of the nonprofit community to tailor solutions directly to clients and add value where we can.
What resources or services can you offer Nonprofit New York members so they can grow and see their missions fulfilled?
Our partnership with Nonprofit New York allows Mutual of America to waive certain employer costs that can be assessed while maintaining a retirement plan. In addition to fee waivers, we offer complimentary plan reviews, fee benchmarking, or consultation as a retirement plan resource.
