New York, NY, November 8, 2019 – Nonprofit New York is highlighting seven nonprofit organizations in their 2019 Nonprofit Excellence Awards, which uplift and celebrate nonprofits’ innovative management practices. Henry Street Settlement has been chosen as the Overall Management Excellence Award Winner, The HOPE Program and Literacy Inc. as Finalists, and four other organizations have been recognized for their work. The Overall Winner and six other organizations will be recognized at and participate in Nonprofit New York’s sold-out Best Nonprofit Conference on Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

The Awards program, now in its 13th year, is an opportunity to learn about Nonprofit New York’s Key Areas of Nonprofit Excellence. Recognized organizations are featured at Nonprofit New York’s Best Nonprofit Conference, which gives all nonprofits a way to learn from - and aspire to - the best practices of the Award winner, and other recognized organizations. The Winner, Runners Up, and Specially Recognized organizations are judged by the 38-person expert Selection Committee who evaluate the applicants and share tailored feedback and expertise with the applicants throughout the Awards program. For the first time this year, the Selection Committee assessed organizations on Nonprofit New York’s newest Key Area, Advocacy and Strategic Alliances.

“We are thrilled to recognize these organizations for meeting their important missions through excellent management practices, and to highlight these practices at the Best Nonprofit Conference,” said Sharon Stapel, Nonprofit New York president and executive director. “These organizations, and all nonprofits, help to shape the society we live in, and the Awards program and conference give us all a chance to learn how best to do our work.”
