Meg Barnette | President & CEO

Meg Barnette joined the Nonprofit New York team in May 2020 as President & CEO. Meg’s entire career has involved work with nonprofit organizations. Before joining Nonprofit New York, Meg spent over nine years at Planned Parenthood in New York City, serving in roles ranging from Vice President of Strategic Initiatives to Chief Strategy Officer and General Counsel. Meg has also served as the Chief Operating Officer at the Brennan Center for Justice, a founding staff member of the Community Development Venture Capital Alliance, and a Skadden Fellow at the Lawyers Alliance for New York. Meg is a graduate of NYU School of Law, where she was a Root Tilden Scholar, and the University of Chicago. She currently serves as Board member of Women for Afghan Women.

Jessica Chin I Communications & Development Coordinator

Jessica Chin joined Nonprofit New York in September 2023 as Communications & Development Coordinator. Before joining, Jessica was the Communications & Administration Manager at the U.S.-Asia Law Institute at NYU School of Law. In this capacity, she implemented a multifaceted communications strategy that more than doubled the institute's followers across all digital platforms. Before that, Jessica was a technical writer, English teacher, and journalist. She is passionate about centering racial equity in her work with nonprofits. Jessica holds a B.A. in Journalism with a Political Science minor from Stony Brook University.


Antony Colon | Membership Manager

Antony Colon joined Nonprofit New York in July 2023 as Membership Manager. Prior to joining, he served as the Director of Programs, and in various roles, at Jumpstart for Young Children (Jumpstart). While at Jumpstart, Antony managed staff to implement early literacy programs to prepare young children for kindergarten in early childhood centers across New York City. Previously, he also supported communities in Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx and East Harlem as a Community Organizer in various capacities connecting residents with employment, financial, and educational programs. He is an AmeriCorps alum and passionate about connecting underserved communities with resources to create a positive impact. Antony holds a B.A. in Sociology from Brooklyn College CUNY.

Jennifer Dodd | Vice President, Finance & Operations

Jennifer Dodd joined Nonprofit New York in June 2021 as Vice President, Finance & Operations.  In her nonprofit career, she has served both local and national organizations in various capacities including as a community health educator, grants administrator, and director for labor-management trust funds. In her continued capacity, Jennifer supports and provides thought leadership on business operations, financial management, and capacity building as part of senior management teams and alongside board leadership. Jennifer holds an M.B.A. and B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University.

Thara Duclosel joined Nonprofit New York in February 2023 as Policy & Advocacy Coordinator. Before joining, Thara served as the Director of Operations for New York State Assemblymember Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn’s district office, working closely with local community boards, community-based organizations, State and City offices, and various community councils. Her government background includes serving as Senate Session Assistant for the Office of Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Women in Public Service Intern, and CUNY Caucus Scholar for the New York State Black, Puerto Rican, Hispanic, and Asian Legislative Caucus. Her nonprofit background includes working with the Human Services Council as Communications Intern and the Prospect Park Alliance as Government and Community Relations Coordinator. Thara holds a B.S. in Public Affairs from Baruch College CUNY and a MSW from Fordham Graduate School of Social Service.

Sonali Jhurani joined Nonprofit New York in April 2022. She comes to us from WomenRising, where she served as the Director of Fund Development for the 117-year-old human services nonprofit and state-designated Domestic Violence Service Provider for Hudson County. Prior to WomenRising, Sonali was the Membership Director for the New York City Hospitality Alliance, a progressive trade association founded in 2012, for nearly seven years. During her time at The Alliance, Sonali dedicated her efforts to building out a united community of 2000+ members that benefitted from advocacy, education and other vital resources. Sonali holds a B.A. in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations from California State University, Fullerton.


Chai Jindasurat-Yasui | Vice President, Policy

Chai Jindasurat-Yasui | Vice President, Policy

Chai Jindasurat joined Nonprofit New York in March 2019 as Policy Director. Prior to joining Nonprofit New York, Chai served as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB), a Public Policy Fellow at the Citizens Budget Commission, and directed national policy work at the New York City Gay and Lesbian Anti-Violence Project. While at OMB, Chai was given a Volunteer Service Award for creating OMB's first Employee Resource Group (ERG) for LGBTQ and ally staff, was the lead analyst on the City’s nonprofit indirect cost rate initiative, as well as the City’s Child Abuse Prevention “Model Budget” project. Chai is currently working on his law degree in CUNY Law School’s part-time evening program. He obtained his MPA as a David Bohnett fellow and Point Scholar, the national LGBTQ scholarship fund, at New York University's Wagner School of Public Service. Chai also holds a BFA from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Alex Joseph joined Nonprofit New York in July 2022 as Programs Coordinator. He previously worked as a Case Manager of Mental Health Services for Project Renewal’s Next Step Program where he helped individuals who have a mental health diagnosis obtain the skills and knowledge they need to become well-rounded individuals in the workforce. He worked at Project Renewal in various roles where he provided services to the homeless and low-income population of New York City. Prior to joining Project Renewal, Alex worked for the Hudson Valley Justice Center as an AmeriCorps VISTA member where he provided support in fundraising, development, and communications for the organization. He is a Junior Board Member for InReach. Alex has a M.P.A. from Capella University and received his B.S. from the University of New Haven.

Darby Masland joined Nonprofit New York in October 2021 and is currently Programs Director.  Prior to joining, Darby worked in education as a Peer Collaborative Teacher and Advisory Coordinator for the NYC Department of Education. She cares deeply about public education and continues to engage in learning and advocacy as an Instructional Coach for Stanford University’s Hollyhock Fellowship Program, where she works with teachers across the country to improve teacher retention rates and build community. Darby holds a B.A. in History from University of Maryland and a M.A. in the Teaching of Social Studies from Columbia University Teachers College.

Nicole Proto joined Nonprofit New York in June 2023 as Operations & Administration Coordinator. Prior to joining, she served as an Office Administrator for the Department of Education (DOE). During her 18 years working at the DOE, she assisted in coordinating hundreds of events and programs within the public school system. Her appreciation in helping others drives her commitment to service and passion for the nonprofit sector. Nicole holds a B.A. in Sociology from Hunter College and an A.A. in Writing and Literature from Borough of Manhattan Community College/CUNY.
